Ianês work focuses on questioning the limits, possibilities, social and political functions of verbal and artistic languages. By opening many of his works to the active participation of the public and creating situations of social exchange and collaboration, where language and actions developed both by the visitors and himself build the work in question, Ianês brings to surface the ideological and political undercurrents of signs, language and the art system.
